It is official, the announcement was made on Thursday Jan. 10. The readers of the Long Island Press ( a weekly newspaper with a circulation of over 105.000 copies per week) have named me "The Best Hypno-therapist" on Long Island. This is an honor that I am very proud to have and it is something that was very important to me to achieve. But let's be real about it. What makes anybody the best at anything? Its a very subjective thing; isn't it? So maybe this was more of a popularity contest than a measure of what makes anybody the "best" hypnotherapist. Look, there are so many great hypnotists here on Long Island (some of whom are participants in this forum) that I am really humbled and so I want to share this award with all of them. Most of them have been in this line of work longer than me and I so I stand on their shoulders. All in all, we are an impressive bunch of councilors, healers and coaches, and the publicity that this will generate can only be good for all of our businesses.
Warmest Wishes for a Happy 2008

PS; Hey this does not mean that I will not use this distinction to my advantage in all of my advertizing. Being named "The Best" at anything by a major newspaper has got to be worth a lot!
The other day I answered a blog post by BOB and told him to contact me. He did via reply and I hope that we will be talking soon.
But the thing is someone else from this group sent me a few Text messages on my cell phone asking to talk to me too in relation the same Issues. I do not know if this person got my replys but I do not think so. And the mesages are no longe available on my phone, So if you are out there and want to talk to me. contact me by reply to this post and I will get back to you!
hope you are okay and I am happy to help anyway I can,

Hey Guys, I just want to let everybody know that Town Supervisor Vindetto has proclaimed Jan 4, 2008 World Hypnotism Day here in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. All it took was a little while on the computer, some patients and a few phone calls to make this happen. It could not have been easier. Everybody should be doing this!

Once in a while as we live we get to be part of something that are bigger than we are. And sometimes we are privileged to see a master at work. For many years in the Garment Business in NYC I was considered something of a Master Craftsman, and in my small corner of that world, I had the pleasure of owning a formidable reputation among my peers. It was always my pleasure to pass the benefit of my knowledge about the technical end of that business on to the people coming up behind me. This past weekend the favor was returned many times over. I took a bit of a drive north of Long Island to spend some time with my dear friends Debbie and Marty Yaffee. As most of you know she was sponsoring a weekend of two workshops. The first was "The Secret Behind the Secret" a presentation being given by Tom Nicoli, and the second was called a joyful life and a peaceful death by Tulku Thondup who is a Buddhist monk. I have already waxed poetic about this on Deb's site so I am not going to gush about that again here. Go read it there. But what I want to say is this. It is one thing to learn from books or attend seminars watch videos and teleconferences. It is quite something else to be there when the magic is happening. I'd like to illustrate a couple of cases in point, On Saturday night after we had spend all day (sitting on the floor) absorbing all the insights of this incredible man Talk, we had the pleasure of socializing together. I was sitting back observing Tom. (I will grant you it may have been through a slightly alcohol induced haze. LOL) Three separate times, he went out of his way to compliment someone about something that nobody else would notice. I am talking about things like the sparkles on the bartender's shoes. What this did was immediately bring that person into his space and thereby all of our presences. She spent more time with us gave us better service and became truly a part of our fun. Why did this work? Because Tom engaged her at a level that subconsciously made her want to be with us. That was a lesson I learned then. Now, once he had her attention, for example we were all talking about our business and she was interested and involved. He went out of his way to steer business to Debbie. She and her son. I tell you I will be amazed if this woman is not on the phone with Debbie already. Tom was magnificent and magnanimous. That was lesson number 2. Finally another tid bit of a lesson. As I said we were all sitting on the floor on Saturday, I am not particularly good at that and by the time we had a break my back was killing me. So I made absolutely sure that I had a chair set up for the second half. BTW there was only one left to be had. When the workshop was over I looked over at Tom who was sitting to the side of me on the floor. And later I mentioned something about my back. He agreed that it was difficult to do. But then he said it didn't matter because when ever he started to feel it he simply went into hypnosis and it was okay it didn't bother him any more. That was lesson 3..Why didn't I think of that?

Has anyone here ever had a chance to watch A & E TV show the TWO COREYS? It's about two former child stars friends now getting back together in "real life".
I happened to have the misfortune to catch a few minutes of this show last night. The Plot line on this episode revolved around the "boys" attempting to stop smoking. And the biggest part of the show was their visit to a hypnotist. I was truly disappointed by the performance of said Hypnotist trying to get them to stop smoking.
I am a Board Certified Clinical Hypnotist practicing here on Long Island and I do more stop smoking sessions than just about anything else so I was keenly interested in watching this. I believe that the hypnotist that they went to made so many tactical blunders it was no surprise that they lit up in right outside his door as they left after their session!
First of all, he tried to do EFT tapping on them without really explaining what it was or how it works. If you do that you just come across looking like a quack. Let's be honest EFT is a bizarre looking thing and it has to be properly explained. I use EFT tapping all the time very successfully with my smokers but I tell my clients what it is all about first. I demonstrate it on them. I don't just have them tapping on their foreheads and around their bodies mimicking me and mocking me. Secondly if my client is not taking it seriously, I show them to door. Why the hell didn't this guy? He obviously never established rapport with either of them and frankly to have both of them in the room together and playing off each other only meant that this session was doomed from the start. If this guy is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists, he needs remedial education now. He gave all hypnotists a black eye and did so on national TV.
If it were me... these guys would not have been treated together or I would not have worked with them. And I believe that they would not be smoking anymore. Actors are generally easy to hypnotize. They are very right brained. Too bad I am here and they are there. And too bad they went to a guy who was more interested in getting his face on TV than he was helping his clients.
